Day Of The Dead

In observance of Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos), Latino families set up colorful ofrendas (altars) as tributes to loved ones who have passed away. These altars are made up of framed photos of the dead, cut paper banners, marigolds, candles, religious symbols and icons, toys and trinkets and even food. What a sweet and poignant tradition! Through Nov. 2, Café Carmel will bake cookies with Day of the Dead and Halloween themes, donating 10 percent of our sales (up to $500) to Hijos Del Sol Arts Productions, a nonprofit that provides art instruction for underserved children and youth. Order your box of cookies and join us in helping this deserving cause.
